The official ribbon cutting celebration for the new branch and home office took place on Monday, August 26th. Members of the Quad Cities Chamber Ambassadors joined the Ascentra staff, board members, and those involved in the construction of the project as Ascentra Board Chair Larry Ridenour cuts the honorary ribbon.

As the team in our new Home Office in downtown Bettendorf settle in, a well-deserved collective sense of accomplishment was felt by everyone involved in this wonderful project. We would like to extend our gratitude to our membership, staff and board of directors for all of their support.  This investment of our members’ equity will serve our organization for decades to come.  We would also like to thank everyone involved in the construction, the trade unions, the architects, the city staff, council and mayor for all their hard work to bring our new Home Office to life.

This new milestone for Ascentra has been the culmination of work done by many before us and just like them, we are thinking of the future of our members and our community.  The impact of our project goes far beyond one downtown area; we are positioning ourselves to better support all our branches and our region as a whole.

As we hosted a series of celebrations at our new Home Office that are highlighted in this issue, an extra special moment came when we had a donation and check presentation from the Ascentra Credit Union Foundation to Junior Achievement of the Heartland. The mission of Junior Achievement is directly aligned with Ascentra and the credit union philosophy. Just as we have invested in our organization, we are continuing to invest in the young people of our region – our future.  It was even more gratifying to see that Dougal Nelson, President and CEO of JA of the Heartland, invited his board of directors to our celebration and kept the big news a secret until the moment everyone else heard the announcement of the $100,000 donation.  We’re very proud to support Junior Achievement through this donation and numerous staff volunteer hours in the classrooms throughout our region.

In planning our new Home Office it was important to have a home that is conducive to creativity and collaboration but most importantly, we needed a place fitting of the wonderful job our staff does serving our growing membership.  We now have a full-service financial center that includes consumer banking services, mortgage and member business lending services, insurance services through our partnership with TruStage Insurance Agency, LLC, and expanded offerings by housing Ascentra Retirement & Investment Services and First Community Trust, N.A. to assist members with their investment and estate planning needs. The first floor also houses Ryan Jantzi, Executive Director of the newly formed Downtown Bettendorf Organization, and the Lensmeyer Learning Center where larger meetings and financial education seminars will be hosted.

Our neighbors and region stakeholders are just as excited to see how we are helping to transform downtown Bettendorf.  As we take in our breathtaking views of the Mississippi River, we are looking forward to what the future holds as our building spurs further development and a new I74 bridge continues to take shape.  We’re doing our part the Ascentra way – always listening, caring, doing what’s right.
