2017 Board Election
When: April 18th, 2017 at 7:00 p.m.
Where: The Bettendorf Library, 2950 Learning Campus Dr., Bettendorf, Iowa
At the next Annual Meeting there will be three positions open for volunteer board of directors. Each is a three-year term position. The voting will take place in person by paper ballot only at the Annual Meeting.
- No nominations will be taken from the floor of the Annual Meeting
- No absentee ballots will be accepted
- Additional candidates will be accepted until Feb. 24, 2017 and must provide the following items to Chief Marketing Officer Jennifer Naeve, at firstname.lastname@example.org or 563-459-6948.
- A petition with at least 200 member signatures
- Candidate qualifications
- A signed statement indicating they will serve if elected as well as be subject to background checks
The following board candidates are listed below with their qualifications:
Davenport, Iowa resident Larry Ridenour was initially elected to the credit union board of directors in 1991 and again in 1993 serving to present date. Larry joined Arconic (ALCOA Davenport Works) in 1966 retiring after 30 years as CAD CAM Programmer. Larry is the past Chairperson of ALCOA DavPak and a member of the 25-year club. Larry received an associate’s degree in numerical control programming, computer aided drafting and CAD CAM Programming. Larry has served in the capacity as Chairperson of the Board of Directors, Vice- Chairperson, Chief Financial Officer, Chairperson of the Credit, Audit, and ALCO committee.
Larry currently serves as the Chairperson of the Board, Executive Committee, Staff Personnel Policies, Board and Director Policy Updates, Cyber Security, Ascentra Credit Union Foundation and ALCO committees. He has additionally served on the Building, Nominating, Disaster Recovery and Marketing Committees. He was the recipient of the Iowa Credit Union League’s 2014 Cooperative Spirit Award for exemplifying the spirit of the credit union industry and the communities they serve.
During Larry’s tenure on the credit union board of directors he fulfills his annual education requirements by taking courses through CUNA’s Volunteer Achievement Program. This experience has given him significant insight into the operation of the credit union. Larry was instrumental in forming the Ascentra Credit Union Foundation to focus on large-impact community giveback. The foundation has been up and running since 2014 and has made a positive impact on the lives of many.
Bettendorf, Iowa resident Dirk Mooy joined the credit union board of directors in March 2008. Dirk and his family moved to the Quad Cities in 1996, and joined the credit union shortly afterwards. After moving to the Quad Cities he worked as an environmental engineer for Preston Engineering, Inc. In 2000 he joined Arconic (ALCOA, Inc.) as a metallurgical engineer and has worked at Arconic’s Davenport Works and San Antonio Works facilities on process improvement activities and developing new products. Dirk volunteers on activities which promote active science and engineering learning for young people, and most recently participated in the Quad City Engineering and Science Council sponsored First Lego League competition, and the Arconic sponsored Metallurgy Magic for local junior high school students.
Dirk received bachelor’s degrees in Chemical Engineering in 1996 and Metallurgical Engineering in 2000, along with minors in Economics and Chemistry, from the University of Missouri at Rolla. In addition to being a Director, Dirk serves on the Audit, Building, Cyber Security and Disaster Recovery Committees. He has previously served as the Treasurer for the Board of Directors. He was Chairperson of the Disaster Recovery, Audit and Credit Committee. He was also a member of the Executive, Audit, Credit, Disaster Recovery, Cyber and Building Committees.
Davenport, Iowa resident Laura Curtis has been employed with PB Leiner, formerly known as Hormel Foods Corporation, for over 25 years. Her current position is Sr. Accounting Associate. Laura received her MBA from the University of Iowa with a concentration in strategic management & consulting and an emphasis in marketing. She received her bachelor’s degree of Business Administration from St. Ambrose University. She currently serves on the board of directors for St. Ambrose University Alumni and previously served on the board of directors for Animal Aid Humane Society.
Laura is originally from Dubuque. She graduated from Andrew Community High School in Andrew, Iowa and made the Quad Cities her home in 1992. Her community involvement activities include volunteering with King’s Harvest Pet Rescue and Quad City Arts Festival of Trees. Laura has been affiliated with the credit union for over 25 years. In addition to being a Director, Laura currently serves as Secretary of the Audit Committee and is on the Disaster Recovery Committee. Previously she has served as a member of the Credit and Disaster Recovery Committee.
