2016 Ascentra Credit Union Annual Meeting
When: April 19th, 2016 at 7:00 p.m.
Where: The Bettendorf Library, 2950 Learning Campus Dr. Bettendorf, Iowa
At the next Annual Meeting there will be five positions open for volunteer board of directors. Each is a three year term position. The voting will take place in person by paper ballot only at the Annual Meeting.
- No nominations will be taken from the floor of the Annual Meeting
- No absentee ballots will be accepted
- Additional candidates will be accepted until Feb. 19, 2016 and must provide the following items to Chief Marketing Officer Jennifer Naeve, at firstname.lastname@example.org or 563-459-6948.
- A petition with at least 200 member signatures
- Candidate qualifications
- A signed statement indicating they will serve if elected as well as be subject to background checks
The following board candidates are listed below with their qualifications:
Dan Birdsley is a lifelong resident of the Clinton and Camanche area. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from St. Ambrose University and joined the Members Choice Community Credit Union Board of Directors in 1998. He has served on the following board committees: Audit, Credit, Executive, Nominating, Personnel, and has served as the board Secretary. He currently serves as Director. He has served with the Clinton County Sheriff’s Department for 30 years and retired in 2013. Dan has served on the Board of Directors for Prince of Peace Catholic School. He and his wife, LeeAnn, reside in Clinton and have two children and five grandchildren. They are both active members of the Church of the Visitation in Camanche.
Larry Ketelsen is a resident of Clinton, Iowa and joined the Members Choice Community Credit Union Board of Directors in 1969. He served as Vice Chairman, Chairman of the Audit and Credit Committees, and on the Executive Committee. He currently serves as Director. A graduate of Clinton Community College with an associate degree, Larry is a retired Lab Technician. He worked for Clinton Corn for 21 years and Sethness Products for 25 years. Larry was the recipient of the 2015 Heritage Award given by the Iowa Credit Union League to individuals demonstrating extraordinary commitment, service and leadership in the credit union movement. Larry enjoys golf, and volunteering at Zion Lutheran Church, Relay for Life, as well as, Habitat for Humanity. He and his wife, Margo, have two sons and one granddaughter.
Dale joined Ascentra Credit Union in August 1999 and was appointed to the board in August 2015. Before becoming President in 2013 he worked as EVP, Chief Lending Officer. He received his master’s degree from Drake University, bachelor’s degree from Augustana College and associate degree from Black Hawk College. He also holds the Certified Chief Executive (CCE) designation from the Credit Union Executives Society (CUES).
Dale currently serves on the board of directors for Ascentra Credit Union, Iowa Credit Union League, Community Business Lenders, LC, Iowa Corporate Holding Company, LLC, Augustana College Alumni, Bettendorf Business Network and serves as President of the Iowa Credit Union Foundation. Dale lives in Rock Island with his wife Angela and two children.
Woody has been a Certified Financial Planner since 1991. He attended the College for Financial Planning in Denver and Black Hawk College. He has been affiliated with the credit union since 1999 and was elected to the board in 2007. Woody is the CFO at Nehlsen Communications where he has been employed since 2002. He currently serves as the Treasurer. He has served on the Audit Committee and board member for Boys and Girls Club of the Quad Cities, and President and Treasurer of Valley Shelter Homes. He is currently on the Endowment Board at Edwards UCC Church, has served as a mediator for Scott County Small Claims Court, and serves as an arbitrator with the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA).
Centerville, Ohio resident Troy Smith was elected to the credit union board of directors in Feb. 1995. In 1989, he joined Alcoa, Inc. as a mechanical engineer. Troy worked in the maintenance, engineering and marketing departments until 2004 when he accepted a corporate position as consultant to all rolling locations worldwide. On Jan. 2008, Troy left Alcoa to become General Manager of Chrome Deposit Corporation; a company specializing in grinding, texturing and chrome plating rolls for the steel and aluminum industry. While this change in jobs caused Troy and his family to relocate to Ohio, the California native still considers the Quad Cities his ‘home’ along with his wife and two children. Troy received his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the West Virginia Institute of Technology and a MBA from St. Ambrose University. Troy serves as the Vice Chairperson, Building Committee Chairperson and Strategic Planning Session Chairperson. He has additionally served as the Chairperson, Vice Chair, Chief Financial Officer, Credit Committee Chairperson; and on the Executive, Nominating, Directors Policy, ALCO, Building, and Staff Personnel Policies Committees at the credit union.
